Vetter
Equipment Company began business in 1975 when Glen
Vetter purchased the International Harvester farm
equipment dealership in downtown Denison, Iowa from Bill
Janke. Starting with six employees, the business
experienced steady growth, and two years later moved to
a newly constructed facility on a 4.5 acres site located
at the northwest edge of Denison.
During the 1980s farm economy recession, International
Harvester Company declared bankruptcy and was purchased
by J.I. Case, a division of Tenneco. Vetter Equipment
was retained by Case as a dealership, and gained the
combined line of machinery now known as Case-IH
equipment.
In 1988 Vetter Equipment purchased the Audubon, Iowa
dealership, which had been closed for two years. In
1994, the Onawa, Ida Grove, and Storm Lake dealerships
were purchased from Case Corporation, followed in 1996
with the purchase of the dealerships in Indianola,
Corydon, and Mt. Ayr. The Nevada, Iowa location was
added in July, 2002, making a total of nine Case-IH
stores.
In 1997, Vetter Equipment purchased the NAPA Auto Parts
stores in Onawa and Audubon. New and improved facilities
allowed the businesses at these locations to be merged
in one building, enabling Vetter Equipment to offer
customers a diverse array of products and services.
As the nature of the farm equipment business continues
to change due to economic conditions, the consolidation
of territories has allowed Vetter Equipment to offer
customers improved service through volume purchasing and
expanded inventories. With more than 100 employees and a
commitment to keeping the needs of customers the central
focus of the organization, Vetter Equipment is the
largest Case-IH dealership in the state of Iowa and
ranks as one of the top dealerships in the country. It
is our goal to continue our tradition of excellence by
offering our customers the best products and quality
service in each of our locations.
